Tucson Climate Action and Adaptation Plan
In 2020, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and the City Council declared a Climate Emergency, committing the City of Tucson to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 for local government operations. To support the achievement of this ambitious target, the City commissioned a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan to be developed by a team of consultants. The planning effort included technical greenhouse gas emissions and climate vulnerability analyses, as well as a variety of community-led dialogues and public events. The result was a collaborative and people-centered plan to support healthy communities, environmental stewardship, and a just economy and society. Chris served as the project director, managing a consultant team that included the local advocacy organization Living Streets Alliance as well as University of Arizona faculty. The Plan was adopted by Mayor and Council in March 2023.
